Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026

Book Share is a community project. This page is a template to show how the site handles this topic and has not been reviewed by a lawyer — it should not be relied on as legal advice, and must be reviewed by qualified counsel before the site is used to process real user data.

1. What Book Share is

Book Share is a community platform for donating and exchanging physical books between individuals in Luxembourg. We connect people who have books to give away or swap with people who want them — we are not a party to any donation or exchange, do not handle payment or shipping, and do not take ownership of any book at any point.

2. Your account

You need an account to donate, propose an exchange, or request a book. Browsing listings does not require an account. You must provide accurate information when registering and are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account.

3. Listing a book

  • You must actually own the book and have the right to give it away.
  • The cover photo and any details you confirm must be genuine and accurate — including a book you don't actually have, or one that is counterfeit, stolen, or illegal to distribute, is not allowed.
  • Listings are reviewed by an admin before they become public. We may reject or remove a listing at our discretion, including after it has been published.
  • Cover photos are analyzed automatically to suggest a title, author, genre, and language — you always review and can correct these before the listing goes live (see the Privacy Policy for how this works).

4. Requesting, exchanging, and meeting

When a donation request or exchange proposal is accepted, both sides' contact details are shared so you can arrange handover directly. Book Share has no visibility into and no responsibility for what happens after that: where you meet, the condition of the book, whether it's handed over at all, or any dispute between users. Meet in a safe, public place and use your own judgment, especially before meeting someone in person.

Accepting a request archives the listing and automatically declines any other pending requests on it — the book is treated as spoken for.

5. Acceptable use

  • No listing or exchanging of anything other than physical books.
  • No harassment, scraping, spam, or attempts to circumvent admin review.
  • No impersonation and no false information in your profile or listings.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

6. No warranty

Book Share is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-suggested book details, the condition or existence of any listed book, or that any donation or exchange will actually take place. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Book Share is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the platform or your interactions with other users.

7. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms as the platform evolves; continued use after a change means you accept the new terms. These terms are governed by the laws of Luxembourg.
